Getting Ready for Christmas

We had so much fun picking out Harrison's first Christmas tree!! Despite my pleading, Trey refused to let me live out my childhood memories at the local Christmas tree farm. When I was little, we would bundle up and my dad would drive us to the farm in what felt like 20 degrees below zero weather. From the warm car and sipping hot chocolate, we would point out the perfect Christmas treeand my dad would have to brave the elements and go chop down the tree by himself. Trey crushed my memories by telling me that that is exactly how people end up needing to see him, cuz they tried to cut down the tree and end up cutting themselves :) Oh well!! The tree stand on the side of the road that we ended up at was just as fun :) And fortunately, it was SO cold that night (for Houston), so it felt like a real Chicago/Connecticut winter. And, I did make him get hot chocolate. I can't give up everything!! :)

All bundled up and ready to go...

Don't you love the drool?? :)

Please, no more rice cereal!! Can't we try something else??

Saturday morning with my boys

Our Baby Boy is 5 Months Old

It is so hard to believe that five months ago, we were blessed with the most perfect little boy. We truly cannot imagine life without him. He brings us so much joy and it has been so rewarding and exciting to watch him learn, explore, and grow everyday.

If you haven't seen Harrison in a while, he is quite the big boy... physically and developmentally :) At his last doctor's visit, he weighed 17lbs and 15 1/2 oz and was 26 inches long... 90th percentile for both height and weight. He's currently wearing 9 month clothes :) Mom and dad are convinced that we are raising a future linebacker!!

Developmentally, Harrison discovered his feet last month and enjoys trying to get them in his mouth!! He also started on rice cereal, which he LOVES!! He has also been teething over the past month, so everything within reach is drooled on and placed in his mouth. He is trying to sit up on his own and has discovered his voice... often screaming at the top of his lungs and then laughing at the sound. We can definitely tell that he is going to be a talker; he is very expressive when he is babbling, with the cutest facial expressions and hand gestures. And he LOVES watching TV, especially Baby Einstein and Sports Center.

We have truly been spoiled, because Harrison has been sleeping through the night in his crib since he was 3 1/2 months old. We lay him down at 8:30pm and like clockwork, he is up at 6:30am. We no longer have to set the alarm clock!! And when he wakes up he is all smiles and babbles and laughs. He is definitely a morning person, unlike his parents!! (Don't worry... we know that our next child will pay us back!!)

Harrison's Dedication

On November 8th, Harrison was dedicated (christened) at our church, Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. It is called a dedication ceremony based on the belief that children are a gift from God and, therefore, they must be dedicated back to him. During the service, we made a promise to raise Harrison to know and love God, and his two wonderful Godparents, Kellie Lofton and Yinka Alonge, committed to supporting us and making sure that we uphold our promise. Harrison is SO blessed to have Kellie and Yinka as Godparents. Trey and I could not think of two more perfect people to trust such an important role to. We love you both!!

After the service, we gathered at our house for a delicious brunch. It was truly a beautiful day and we appreciate all of the friends and family shared this special event with us.

Happy Halloween, Harrison!!

Harrison truly enjoyed his first Halloween!! He attended 3 parties in one day :) Doesn't he make the cutest dalmation puppy ever?? Some people thought he was a chic -fil-a cow, but clearly they didn't see his bone and "Woof" on his costume :)
